Remembering Robert C. Blades

Age 84, Groveland, Mass.
Passed away on April 27, 2020

Robert (Bob) C. Blades, 84, of Groveland, died Monday morning, April 27, from Covid-19 at Penacook Place Nursing Home, Haverhill.

He was born in Saugus, April 1, 1936, son of the late Cyrus and Alice (Wainright) Blades.

Educated in the Saugus school system, Mr. Blades graduated from Saugus High School, class of 1954.

For over 30 years he was employed as a ground mechanic for TWA from where he retired in the mid 1990’s.

A Groveland resident for over 60 years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends.

He was the husband of the late Claire M. (Lenihan) Blades who died in 2014, father of the late Maureen Johnson who died in 2016, brother of the late Beverly Harmer and brother-in-law of the late Wes Burwell.

His survivors include a daughter, Doreen Blades and her husband Peter Slettehaugh of Groveland, a son, Robert C. Blades, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Hebron, KY, a son-in-law, Mark Johnson of Haverhill, a sister, Dorothy Burwell of Exeter, NH, six grandchildren, Shawn Johnson and significant other Colleen Heath, Megan Perry and her husband Mike, Justin Slettehaugh and his significant other Sarah Tripple, Erik Slettehaugh and his significant other Jill Lubrano, Rachel Blades her significant other Adam Garner and Holly Blades and her fiancée Justin Bowman,  his honorary Granddaughter Lily Smith and her mother a special cousin Sheila Smith , nieces and nephews as well as longtime dear neighbors Allison and Greg Candage.

The family would like to thank the staff at Penacook place for taking good care of Robert.
