Remembering Maria Linda Villanueva Sun
Age 61, Newport News, Va.
Passed away on March 25, 2020
She studied accounting at University of the East and immigrated in 1979 to the United States, where she was a longtime resident of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Melinda was a restaurateur, interior designer, accountant and small business owner. Most significantly, she cherished her family and gave the full measure of her effort into raising and supporting her three daughters to achieve their goals. Her generosity, compassion, joy for living, creativity and love for people touched all whose lives have crossed hers. Of all of her personal traits, the most important was her faith in God, which she instilled in her family through encouragement, prayer, service, charity, forgiveness and love.
Melinda will be missed by her family and by those she shared life with along the way.
Melinda is survived by her husband, Tonglin Sun of Newport News; mother, Pacita S. ‘Nanay’ Ritutal of Tracy, California; daughter, Niki Villanueva Santo of Tracy, California; daughters and sons-in-law, Jasmine and Phil Baten of Manchester, Connecticut, and Irene Villanueva and Brian Norville of Arlington; sister and brother-in-law, Maritess Villanueva and Rick Mayer of Portland, Oregon; brother and sister-in-law, Ike and Cecille Villanueva of Brisbane, Australia; along with nephews and niece, Chase Mayer, Brandon Mayer, Joram Villanueva, Jorel Villanueva and Janine Villanueva.
