Remembering Maria Lopez

Every February, Maria Lopez and a group of fellow Chicago nurses from the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago would board a plane to someplace warm.

For about a decade, they’d traveled to different locales, including Lopez’s beloved Mexico, where she is from. This year, they went to the Dominican Republic.
