Remembering Benjamin Robert Hirschmann

A young man from Fraser who interned for a state Senator and worked in other Republican circles has died from complications from COVID-19.

Ben Hirschmann, 24, died Tuesday after telling his mother he wasn’t feeling well and was going to go the hospital but didn’t make it, according to state Sen. Peter Lucido, R-Shelby Township. He had been in contact with doctors previously and was told to quarantine at home.

“He was a larger than life patriotic young man who loved his county, his state and his country, and good government,” Lucido told The Macomb Daily. “When he walked into a room, he had a smile on his face. He didn’t have a bad bone in his body, and he never said anything bad about anyone. He had a passion for what he did.”
